2015-05-02: Walking day Cáceres – Casar de Cáceres – Alconétar - Cañaveral (35+10/ 346 km)

At the morning a did a little work for my company back home and ordered hotel at the airport in “Malaga” for my trip back. Had breakfast and waited then for the sports shop to open before starting the walk of the day. Found a rain jacket at a fair price.
Then walked out through the old pats of “Cacéres”. This is where pilgrims normally stay. Saw one of my Scottish dentists at a distance. Jonied two Germans who had planned a short walk to “Casar de Cacéres”.
I had lunch there and then continued through a landscape that reminded me of Scottish moors (but without rain and fog as someone said that night).
The end of the day got a bit complex when approaching the dam collecting waters from two important rivers. One was building a new road with, among other things, two bridges over the two rivers. The dam is big had drenched part of the old Vía de la Plata. I had to follow the road over to “Alconétar” and was happy for a couple of minutes when I found the fine looking hostel/albergue. The time had passed 6 pm and I was tired.
But no place in the hostel and the hopitalera seemed to lack inventiveness. To walk the more than 10 kilometers to the next place was out of reach for me right ther. I was tired. I asked the girl to phone “Cañaveral” and if the were place then order a taxi. And that worked. John joined me. John an old Irishman.
The albergue in “Cañaveral” was brand new well organized so it was a good choice to go there. “All” were there including Michel the French guy that walked towing a cart with his baggage. We had all diner at the bottom floor towards the garden. A tricky day that looked bad for a while but that ended well, very well.
