Hans and I walked together to “El Real de la Jarra”. A quiet way were not much happened. Beautiful but the batteries in my camera was empty, completely empty. Hans did not want to go any further so I left him and continued. I briefly met the Dutchman I later came to walk more with. He sat down on a bench outside the village church while I went some steps more and had lunch at the bar next to the church.
Leaving “el Real de la Jarra”
I passed the brook that forms the border between Andalucía and Extremadura. The camino here was a quiet and fine gravel road passing lager farms in a mixed landscape. Walked together with the Dutchman having a good conversation. But all talking made us miss a trail fork and we walked a few kilometers extra. After a while we split.
Eventually I reached the crossing with the motorway, at “Erimita de San Isidor”. At that place there is now a petrol station and a restaurant etc. This means that this place is converting to a major stop-over or even a shopping centre. Crossed the motorway and continued in between the motorway and a local road.
Slowly the road rose towards the pass at “Monesterio”. At 750m it is the highest point of the Vía de la Plata in “Sierrra Morena”. Walked into the city and found, with some difficulty, the new public albergue at the other end of the town. Ate at a place nearby. No top place!
I was tired after quite many kilometers that day. I had to concentrate to fix the necessities.
